I love the details and meaningful treasures displayed in a home.  A house is just a building. A home is a place filled with details, people, and an unspoken warmth!

Once Upon A Whimsy....I had a few more Christmas decorating thoughts....

1)  It is alright to escape from traditional decor colors for Christmas decorating.  One of my favorite trees of all times was my Aunt Suzanne's.  She used hot pink, bright red, purple, and bright green, for her Christmas tree colors.  It was fantastic.   A few other decor inspirations....

2)  I always think a flocked tree is perfectly whimsical, and carries great vintage flair.

I ♥ flocked trees

White flocked tree- my mother bought one once and it was gorgeous!

3) I love the look of natural branches sprayed with glitter

sparkle spray painted branches and put in a vase- cheap and beautiful.

4)  I can never not have at least one part of my house decorated for Christmas without some classic red plaid.

We are getting ready for Christmas around here in a big way.  I have learned a couple of things about what I love as far as decorating for Christmas.

1) Keep it simple.  Many people myself included, have a tendency to OVER decorate.  My favorite decorated homes, are often simple, with clean classic lines.

I love simplicity of the this.  It really doesn't take much for a Holiday feel.

2)  Spend your money on fresh greens, and trimmings, and save on ornaments and nick nacks.    I spend the biggest portion of my decorating budget on a fresh wreath, and fresh trimmings.
As far as trimmings are concerned always check with a local christmas tree street vendor  for bunches of extra greenery.  It is much less expensive than at fancy nurseries....

3)  Decorate with items that have special meaning to your family.  I love decorating with traditional pieces in my house, that have either been passed down, gifts from loved one, or just simply have meaning to me.

4)  Get your kids involved.  As much as we may cringe at the thought, it is always more meaningful if you have help from loved ones while decorating.  Even if it means re-arranging the Christmas tree late at night when the kids are in bed, it is always worth the smiles.

This was a little garland the kids helped me put together for our kitchen.  I think it is darling....particularly because of the those I love involved.

Harajuku at Target!

There are countless reasons why I love Target.  One the reasons this Holiday season is the Harajuku Girls Christmas clothing line.  A bit of whimsy for a great price.

The red one for my oldest daughter turning eight, and the black for my younger daughter who is three.  Perfect for any Holiday occasion.

This little models captures my vision....

A red hat from H&M, a black scarf from my closet, and a vintage bag from a yard sale long ago....makes for a great photo opportunity, and a great party outfit.

Hot Pink Poinsettia's

Hot Pink Poinsettia's are top on my list for this years Holiday decor.  I know hot pink is not a "traditional" Christmas color, but pink is a traditional color in my realm of being.  My favorite local nursery, Ashcombe Farms, has a brilliant selection this year.  Combined with a blue and white pot of sorts....it is a favorite coffee table statement.
